June 30th, 2021, will mark the end of Fiscal Year 2, the first full year of the Truth Has A Voice Foundation. It began the year by sponsoring a journalism internship of the Ark Valley Voice Internship Program for a recent college graduate to learn reporting in a variety of contexts and through a vision of awareness of how different journalistic approaches reflect cultural norms, and particularly focusing on stories that covered the impacts of COVID 19 on the Chaffee County community.
In addition, leading up to the 2020 election, THAVF sponsored a real-time Virtual Forum for the Chaffee County commissioner candidates to give the community an opportunity to learn about candidate perspectives and proposed policies even while in the midst of a pandemic. The video is available on YouTube.
For the next year, THAVF is also planning to sponsor a Video Conference exploring the role of media, education efforts for a well-informed community and impact of polarization.
